Knit Visualizer : Frequently Asked QuestionsQ: Can I install the
full version on top of the demo? A: It's a good idea to uninstall or delete
the demo from your system, just to make sure you don't run the demo accidentally
when you wanted to run the full version. Q: For the Mac version, Why
do I need to have (at least) Mac OS X 10.4? A: There are system files/libraries
in that version of the OS needed for Knit Visualizer to run sucessfully. Apple
doesn't support these libraries on previous versions of OS X. Q: MAC:
Will it run on the new Intel based Macs? A: Knit Visualizer was designed
to be a Universal Binary, and will run on both Power PC and Intel based Macs. Q: MAC:
Will it run on Leopard (10.5.x) and Tiger (10.4.x)? A: YES! Q:
How do I get the free updates? A: All minor updates are available by download
only. When a free update is available, we send email to everyone who has purchased
and registered Knit Visualizer. Q: Will updates always be free?
A: Minor updates will be free. Minor updates might include bug fixes, new symbols,
and very minor changes to functionality. Major releases that include significant
new functionality will most likely not be free. Existing users will be able to
upgrade to the new version for less than the full price, details will be available
when the new version is announced. Q: How do I register my software?
A: If you buy directly from us at knitfoundry.com, you are automatically registered.
Whether you purchase it for immediate download or we send you a CD, you are registered
when we get your payment. If you purchase Knit Visualizer on CD from a Local Yarn
Store, inside your CD will be instructions to register. Note: http://www.knitfoundry.com
is the ONLY authorized seller of immediate downloads for Knit Visualizer.
Q: What if I buy Knit Visualizer as a gift, and the recipient needs
to register the software in their name? A: The best thing to do is to
tell us that the software will be a gift, and we can include the registration
information in the CD for you. This will prevent us from incorrectly registering
the software with you, and allow the recipient to register it. If you forgot to
mention it to us, then both you and the recipient will need to contact
us. Q: Can I use the charts I create in Knit Visualizer in my commercial
(for-sale) patterns? A: Yes, you can use the charts you create in any
type of pattern, blog, web site. While it's not necessary, we'd love to hear about
your creations, so please let
us know! Q: Why do you allow me to hide the chart in the Preview
window? A: In case you'd like to put the legend in your pattern in a different
place other than right next to or under the chart. Sometimes the formatting of
your pattern prevents you taking a large space all in one area; so this lets you
work with your chart and Legend the way you want Q: I would like to use
a specific symbol that you don't include. What can I do? A: You can use version 2.0 to create your own stitches. See the manual for details on how to do this. Q: Where's the Manual? It
wasn't included with the download after I purchased Knit Visualizer A:
The manual for Knit Visualizer is available as a free download, and we assume
most people will want to take a look at it before they buy Knit Visualizer. We
don't re-include it again to avoid making the download for the full version of
the software even larger. The latest manual is always available via a link from
our main software page here. Check in the upper
left hand corner under the "Download" heading. Customers who purchased
the CD will find the Manual in the root directory of the CD. Q: What
is version 1.2a and what does it include? A: Knit Visualizer supports Windows
Vista with the 1.2a release. Only the installation was changed to provide Vista
support, all other aspects of the software remained the same. If you have 1.2
for Windows XP, you do not need to upgrade. Version 1.2 and 1.2a are no longer supported. Q: What is version 2.0 and what does it include A: It's the latest version of Knit Visualizer, and includes tons of new features! Check out the manual for details.
